How to opt in to PromptMeBot text alerts

For carriers and reviewers: where a person agrees to receive PromptMeBot text messages, the exact words they agree to, and what they receive afterwards. Updated October 11, 2026.

The opt-in form is the signup form on the home page, promptmebot.com. It has a mobile number field and, directly below it, the optional text alerts box. The copies on this page are disabled previews of the same fields.

Text alerts are optional

Nobody has to agree to texts to sign up, to choose a plan, or to pay. The text alerts box starts unticked, and the signup and payment buttons work whether it is ticked or not. A person who leaves it unticked can choose any plan, the paid plans included, and gets their alerts by email.

Where the opt-in appears

  • The home page (promptmebot.com), in the signup form: the “US mobile number” field, and directly below it the box under the heading “Text alerts (optional)”. The mobile number is required only if the box is ticked.
  • The plan step, for the paid plans. Text alerts come with the paid plans, so the same box and the same words appear again there, ticked or unticked as the person left them on the home page, and they can still change their mind. The free plan is email only and shows no text box.
  • Changing the number. If the person changes their number on the verification code screen or on the last screen before payment, the same mobile number field and the same box appear again there, the box ticked or unticked as they left it. A new number is confirmed with its own code before payment. After signing up, a paid subscriber can add or change their number on their account page, through a secure link sent to them: the same field and the same box appear under “Text alerts”, the box unticked, and the new number is confirmed with its own code before anything else is sent to it. The same card turns text alerts off.

The mobile number and the box, as they appear

The person types their mobile number and ticks the box below it. The words beside the box are the consent we record: when a person agrees, we store the time, their IP address, their browser user agent and a cryptographic hash of exactly this text.

Text alerts (optional)

Leave this unchecked to get your alerts by email only. We won't text you, even on a paid plan.

Preview only. This copy of the mobile number field and the box is disabled and submits nothing.

On the account page, a subscriber adding or changing their number sees the same field directly above the same box, unticked, under “Text alerts”. Ticking it and confirming the code records the consent the same way.

Tick this to get text alerts at the number above. Texts are optional: leave it unchecked and nothing changes.

Preview only. The account page's copy of the mobile number field and the box, disabled; it submits nothing.

Marketing is a separate, optional box, and it is for email only. PromptMeBot sends no marketing by text, and ticking or leaving this box changes nothing about text alerts.

Step by step

  1. Tick the box on the home page.
The person enters the address where they park and their email and, only if they tick the text alerts box, their US mobile number in the field directly above it.
The promptmebot.com signup form: address and email fields, then the mobile number field and, directly below it, the unticked "Text alerts (optional)" box with its consent wording.
  2. Choose a paid plan.
After confirming which side of the street they park on, the person sees “Your addresses”, where they can add other street sides or remove one, and then chooses a plan. On a paid plan the box appears again as they left it. Left unticked, no mobile number is asked for: the person confirms their email address with a code or a link we email, then agrees to the renewal terms and pays, with alerts by email.
The plan step with the annual plan selected, showing the mobile number the person typed, with Change, directly above the same "Text alerts (optional)" box, ticked.
  3. Enter the one-time verification code.

With the box ticked, we text a code to the number, and the person types it in. This proves the number is theirs before anything else is sent. It is the only text that goes out before the consent is recorded, and it carries no alert or marketing:

PromptMeBot: your verification code is 123456. It expires in 10 minutes. Msg rates apply. Reply STOP to end. We will never call you for this code.

A number that has texted STOP is sent no code. The person can text START first, or continue without text alerts.

The verification screen, asking for the six-digit code texted to the mobile number.
  4. Agree to the renewal terms and pay.
We also email a link to confirm their address, which nothing waits for. The last screen before payment shows the choice as a summary line, “Text alerts: on” with the number and a link to change it, and asks only for the automatic renewal agreement California law requires. Submitting it records the SMS consent.
The last screen before payment: "Text alerts: on" with the verified number and a Change link, then the automatic renewal agreement.
  5. Receive the confirmation text.

Once payment completes, we text this, followed by a link to the person's own account page:

PromptMeBot: text alerts are on. Msg frequency varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to end.

After that, message frequency varies: usually up to 2 street cleaning reminders per scheduled cleaning (the evening before, and a final reminder before it starts), plus account notices and replies to texts the person sends. Message and data rates may apply.

A phone showing the PromptMeBot confirmation text: text alerts are on, message frequency varies, message and data rates may apply, reply HELP for help and STOP to end.

HELP, STOP and opting back in

Texts come from +14154291995.

  • HELP (or INFO) at any time gets a reply naming PromptMeBot, listing the text commands, saying that message and data rates may apply, and giving support@promptmebot.com.
  • STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT or REVOKE) opts the number out at once. We confirm it with one message and send nothing after that. On a paid plan, STOP also ends automatic renewal: the plan runs to the end of its current term, with email alerts if the email address is confirmed and email alerts are on, and then ends, and START turns texts back on but does not restart the renewal. To stop texts and keep a plan, use Turn off text alerts on the account page. The opt-out belongs to the phone number, so it holds whether or not the number has an account.
  • START, YES or UNSTOP from a number on a paid PromptMeBot account with an address getting alerts turns text alerts on, or back on after a STOP. We record that as consent and reply with the same confirmation:
PromptMeBot: text alerts are on. Msg frequency varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to end.
On the free plan, or with no address getting alerts, START lifts the opt-out, and after that confirmation a second reply says text alerts come with the paid plan. A number with no account also gets a reply pointing to promptmebot.com, and nothing is recorded as consent.
